Austria v Scotland, May 30

The SFA have confirmed that Scotland will face Austria in a friendly in Vienna on May 30.

The match has been arranged to consider the gap between the end of the domestic season and the Faroes international on June 6. Scotland coach Walter Smith said “Several of the players will face a long time without a game before the Faroes game, so this match will be an important part of the build-up to the qualifier.”

Austria are co-hosting Euro 2008 with Switzerland. This friendly should allow the Scotland team some idea of what to expect when they qulalify (as currently seems likely) from their Euro 2008 qualifying group. Having recently drawn 2-2 against the Austrians in August 2005, thank to goals from Kenny Miller and Garry O’Connor, Scotland should, on presnt form, do us all proud.
