Confusion over Bari threatens Italy v Scotland match

The venue for the Scotland v Italy match is in doubt. The confusion stems from new safety measures recently introduced after rival fans clashed in Sicily and a police officer died, having been struck by an object.

Six stadiums are currently admitting fans – Rome (Olympic Stadium), Genoa, Siena, Cagliari, Palermo and Turin. So the match should go ahead regardless. But where? The Italians seems to want the match held at Bari. As David Taylor reported “There’s work to be done at Bari stadium, they are aware of that but think they can complete that before the game.”

Is this good enough? I think not. With the Tartan Army looking to book flights and accommodation in Italy this lack of certainty is doing noone any favours. I vote the match be moved to Rome.
