Garry O’Conner to be given second chance

Alex McLeish is talking about giving Garry O’Conner a second chance despite his failure to meet up with the Scotland squad prior to the recent match in Ukraine. O’Conner annoyed past manager, Walter Smith, with this absence. However, with O’Conner having publicly apologised for his behaviour, McLeish seems willing to give the Lokomotiv Moscow striker another chance.

As a fan, O’Conner really annoyed me with his behaviour. I guess he may have had personal issues to deal with, but I’m not sure that is a good enough excuse. We all have problems to deal with, but don’t take them to work. So why should he? However, maybe O’Conner should be given a last chance and be allowed to make amends, especially if he can produce the goods for Scotland.

I just hope McLeish knows what he is doing. With teams like France and Italy breathing down our necks we can’t afford to be too forgiving.
