Germans watching England v Germany at Bavarian Beerhouse

Posted in England on July 27, 2007 by Tartan Army Soldier

I just received an invite from a German work colleague to watch England v Germany at London’s Bavarian Beerhouse. Obviously, I had to refuse. But had Scotland not been playing the same evening I am sure I would have been there with the Germans.

On the slim chance that the Scotland game is abandoned, the Bavarian Beerhouse can be found at 190 City Road, outside exit no. 8 of Old Street tube station.

Scotland to face South Africa at Pittodrie

OK. I found out five days late, but I just saw that Scotland are, as many have predicted, to face World Cup 2010 hosts South Africa at Pittodrie Stadium on August 22.

This will, not doubt, be used to prepare for the Lithuania and France games in September. With the Euro 2008 qualifying games becoming ever more important I expect Scotland coach, Alex McLeish, will be testing some of his players to ensure the best team is present in both these crucial games.

FIFA Rankings Update: Scotland 22nd

Posted in FIFA on July 18, 2007 by Tartan Army Soldier

I just checked up on the latest FIFA rankings. The Scotland squad are now listed as 22nd, which is one position higher than last month. Not exactly shocking or exciting is it. More interesting perhaps is England’s fall to 12th position. Mr McClaren will be far from happy with that. And, considering their team as one of the best in the world, I’m sure the few million England fans won’t let it go unmentionned.
