Scotland Squad named to face Lithuania and France

Posted in Euro 2008, Scotland Squad on August 30, 2007 by Tartan Army Soldier

Alex McLeish has named the Scotland Squad for the coming Euro 2008 matches. While England coach Steve McClaren has major injuries to contend with, McLeish has named the 25-man Scotland squad for the coming Lithuania and France games.

McLeish has recalled some of the players rested for the South Africa match. Those returning to the team include Barry Ferguson (suspended for the Lithuania game), Paul Hartley, David Weir, Lee McCulloch and Gary Naysmith. Barry Robson and Jay McEveley have suitably impressed McLeish against South Africa to be retained in the team.

Another win for the Scotland Squad, and all quiet on the English front

Another Scotland game, another victory. And the Germans did well too 🙂

As ever, we were in the Rob Roy bar, hoping for another Scotland victory. We arrived just in time to see Wales defeat the Bulgarians. Then it was the main event, Scotland v South Africa. Despite starting poorly, our defence looked after us and Graig Gordon reliably proved his worth.

We picked our selves up in the second half. The mood around us improved n-fold. If we were to keep up the pressure we would almost surely get a goal. We just had to keep pushing. And in the 71st minute Kris Boyd did the necessary and put the ball soundly into the South African net. 20 minutes later job done; another pleasing, if hard won ,Scotland victory.

So, back to work on Thursday. There were 5 very pleased people – 3 Germans and 2 Scots. Strangely, the rest of the office was somewhat subdued. I can’t imagine why that would be;-)

Next stop Hampden Park, Scotland v Lithuania. See you all there.

Tickets for Scotland v Ukraine match now on sale

Posted in Euro 2008 on August 6, 2007 by Tartan Army Soldier

Tickets for the Scotland v Ukraine match are now on sale to members of the Scotland Supporters Club.

This will, undoubtedly, be an important game for the Scotland Squad. Being close on the heals of the French game and heading towards the end of the qualifying stages points will be as valuable as ever. And with Ukraine being one of the three teams considered likely to finish ahead of the Scotland team will be doing everything to quash this belief. And, we intend to be there to back out team all the way. Our ticket-master, Allan, has our SSC membership numbers and and should have staked our tickets already. Can’t wait! 🙂
