James McFadden and Co. do Scotland proud – Scotland 3-1 Ukraine

What a match! What a superb result! McLeish’s Scotland team (Fadd’s Army) gave us another victorious display, showing just why Scotland are sitting on top of Euro 2008 Group B. They were outstanding, again.

We were in the North Stand (where else?). Settling in, after Flower of Scotland, we were looking forward to a good match. And we didn’t have long to wait. Kenny Miller headed the ball from a McFadden free kick into the net putting Scotland into the lead after only 3 minutes. Outstanding! Then Lee McCulloch converted another McFadden ball 7 minutes later, shooting into the net from 16 yards. Even better.

Unfortunately, the next goal was not Scotland’s. Seeing a momentary chink in Scotland defence, Ukraine’s Andriy Shevchenko blasted the ball into Scotland’s goal. 2-1. Ukraine were back in with a chance. We were aghast!

Despite a heated end to the first half, and some dubious refereeing decisions, Scotland’s efforts didn’t seem to wain. They powered on. Then, deservedly Scotland scored their third. Provider of the first two goals, James McFadden, put paid to Ukraine’s chances in the 67th minute. Collecting a Hutton cross, McFadden drilled the ball past Ukraine’s keeper, Shovkovskiy, to give Scotland a 2 goal lead. And we went mental! 3-1 to Scotland, and that was how it ended.

Then, celebratory beers at Buddha. Brilliant.
