Strachan starts with 1 – 0 victory over Estonia

Gordon Strachan has started his job as Scotland coach in the best way possible. Victory!

Scotland defeated Estonia 1 – 0  at Pittodrie last night. Charlie Mulgrew was the man who scored the decisive goal, putting Scotland ahead in the 39th minute. He scored his first goal for the national team, efficiently converting a Charlie Adams free kick. Despite other Scottish attempts for goal none were successful. But Scotland had won. A rare and splendid outcome!

It’s not the most amazing result, but it is a win. Compared to recent results, a positive outcome is to be applauded. And Strachan’s comments seem to suggest he is keen to build on the result. With comments like “We need to be even braver, to find the good players who can take people on instead of playing it square so often – get these good players on the ball early” it may be that there will be changes in the team line-up for up-coming matches. And he wasn’t short of compliments, applauding Chris Burke’s efforts – “He’s been absolutely terrific”. Whatever, it seems Strachan is keen to make a positive mark on the team. And a victorious start has to be a good sign.

Well done Gordon. Keep up the good work.
