Woe as Scotland defeated 3 – 1 by England

What a woeful match! Another home defeat against England. 😦

15 years had passed since Scotland last played host to the Auld Enemy. Then, we suffered a 2 – 0 defeat at the hands of the English. This time we were to show the English that Scotland are a more formidable force, at least able to win at home. Unfortunately, that wasn’t to be.

I found a decent pub in south London, with plenty of TV screens to watch the match. There weren’t too many English watching the football, but enough that we would see their humbled faces should the final score end as it should. Ha! Such optimism. No humbling of the English, as they showed the Scotland team to be second best.

Scotland defeat Rep of Ireland 1 – 0 thanks to superb Shaun Maloney goal!

The Euro 2016 qualifiers keep getting more and more exciting. And last night’s Scotland v Rep. of Ireland match was no exception. With the Republic of Ireland having shown recent form that competes with that of expected group victors, Germany, this was almost definitely a must-win match.

From what I saw, I wasn’t the most impressive display of football, but the goal was pretty outstanding. The pace was frantic, but not overly impressive. However, all that didn’t matter when Wigan midfielder shot the ball into the Irish net, giving Scotland the victory they needed.
